BREAKING NEWS: First Vote Fraud Arrest Made from VIP’s Research

April 1, 2015 (CARTHAGE, NC) — The Moore County District Attorney’s Office confirmed, late this afternoon, that earlier today, their Sheriff’s Department arrested a Registered Republican,Cuffs first discovered by the Voter Integrity Project to have voted twice in the November 2012 election.

“No fooling! This arrest is significance because he got away with the crime and never would have been caught,” said Jay DeLancy, Director of the VIP, “had it not been for the hard work of a statewide volunteer team that combed through thousands of voter records. Today, officially marks our first prosecution for vote fraud.”

The group plans to withhold the name of the double voter until they can obtain and post a copy of the arrest warrant and the mug shot, sometime tomorrow morning. Under NC law, it is a Class I Felony to vote more than once in the same election.

“All we can say is that he was a respectable citizen, in fact, an airline pilot, who jetted between Florida and NC enough to vote in both places.” said DeLancy. “While vote fraud deniers will tweet that it’s only one illegal vote, we remind the public that one stolen vote is one too many.”

Last year, VIP referred 149 cases to the State Board of Elections, whom they suspected of either committing vote fraud or being a victim of voter identity theft, and has been working with several NC District Attorneys and the Tennessee Coordinator of Elections.

“We feel 100 percent certain that more VIP-related arrests are coming,” he said, “and another of them will be in Moore County.”

Another arrest the group expects, sometime soon, involves Gilbert Rowe, of Maitland, Florida and Burnsville, NC (Yancey County), who admitted on camera to a Florida TV news reporter that he voted twice in the November 2012 election.

The Florida TV investigative news story came after, Mike Synan, an Orlando Fox affiliate reporter, obtained a copy of the names VIP had turned over to the Florida Secretary of State’s Election Fraud Division. Synan, along with Tampa’s Craig Patrick knocked on doors until they found one of the voters VIP had identified to officials.

“Our sources in Yancey County told us that Rowe immediately called their Board of Elections and asked to be removed from the voter rolls,” said DeLancy, “but it’s too late for covering his tracks. It’s time for their DA to prosecute Mr. Rowe.”
