VIP Releases 2020 NC Observer Training Video

Oct 22, 2010 (Raleigh) Voter Integrity Project – NC today released a video briefing that reviews the strategy and tactics involved in being an official election observer.

While the 80-minute video can be viewed below (or by clicking here), the public is encouraged to download the accompanying slides, “Version 1.0” of the “2020 Poll Watcher Resource Kit” (Click here for the slides). It may also be helpful to print off a set of the slides along with copies of VIP’s Incident Report form and their Witness Statement forms.

“North Carolina law still locks nonpartisan election observers out of the process, so any potential observers will have to work through their favorite political party,” said Jay DeLancy, founder of VIP. “While it’s important to take any and all training your party requires, we offer this additional training as a public service.”

The nonpartisan group advises citizens to contact the political party of their choice if they want to play a role in making sure elections work the way they’re supposed to work.

“Each of us carries our own sorts of partisan biases,” DeLancy said, “and I take a fair number of shots at both parties during the training, but at the end of the day, our greatest concern is that both sides can agree that it was a fair fight and not just a barroom brawl.”
